ClubWPT Gold Changes Nevada Exit Language, Hinting at a Possible Return

ClubWPT Gold has changed how it describes its Nevada exit, raising questions about whether the sweepstakes poker operator could eventually return to the state. After initially telling players it was winding down operations, the company now describes the move as a pause in sweepstakes gameplay.
The updated language leaves the door open for a comeback. ClubWPT Gold has expressed optimism that modifications to its platform could allow it to resume operations in Nevada, although it hasn’t announced any specific changes or a return date.
ClubWPT Gold stopped offering sweepstakes poker in Nevada in September following regulatory pressure. At the time, the company said it was winding down operations, making the exit sound permanent. We covered ClubWPT Gold’s original Nevada exit when it happened.
Now, the company has changed its wording. Its updated FAQs and player emails describe the exit as a pause, as reported by Pokerfuse, suggesting a return could still be possible.
ClubWPT Gold believes changes to its platform could help it return, but hasn’t explained what those changes would look like.
ClubWPT Gold hasn’t confirmed whether its proposed changes would meet Nevada’s requirements. Until it provides more details, a return remains uncertain.
ClubWPT Gold has dealt with similar restrictions in other states. It returned to California and New York with limited access after making changes to its operations. In California, it introduced “California Game Days,” which lets players access sweepstakes poker for nine days each month.
The company also changed how its platform works in September 2025. Instead of using the usual two-currency sweepstakes system, ClubWPT Gold switched to a poker training model. Players buy poker hand reviews and receive chips they can use to play poker. Those chips can also be redeemed for cash at $1 per chip.
However, that model was already in place when ClubWPT Gold left Nevada. The company may need to make more changes before returning, and there’s no guarantee Nevada regulators would accept them. What works in California or New York won’t necessarily work in Nevada.
For Nevada players, nothing has changed. ClubWPT Gold’s sweepstakes poker games are still unavailable, and there’s no word on when or if they’ll return. WSOP Online remains the state’s only regulated real-money online poker option.
Offshore poker sites are another option, but they aren’t licensed or regulated by Nevada, so players don’t have the same state protections. Our Nevada online poker guide covers the available options and current laws.
ClubWPT Gold has made changes to return to other states, but there’s no guarantee the same approach will work in Nevada. For now, the switch from “winding down” to “pausing” suggests the company wants to return, but players will have to wait for an official announcement.
