ACR Kicks Off Winter OSS and Tournament Changes

Written by Jennifer Newell

Americas Cardroom Winter Online Super Series OSS

The crew at Americas Cardroom and all of its sister sites on the Winning Poker Network are working hard for their holiday vacations. They have been making changes to the weekly tournament schedule – removing some, changing others, adding excitement – all while planning the Winter Online Super Series.

We hope that there are some elves in the office to help with the work so everyone can take a little time off at the end of the year!

Winter OSS

The Online Super Series is the flagship tournament series of Americas Cardroom. It usually comes with a mini version (MOSS) and big high-stakes version (BOSS), along with the standard OSS. There have been other iterations of late as well. Now, bring on the Winter Online Super Series. (No idea if the WOSS acronym will stick or not.)

Regardless of the name, the important thing to know is that the series is running December 3-20 with $24M in guaranteed prize pools across 148 tournaments.

There are several tournaments finding themselves on an OSS schedule for the first time. And this OSS iteration is offering more variety than any in the past. In addition to PLO and PLO-8, there will be 5-Card PLO and 5-Card PLO-8, Limit Omaha H/L, and Stud and Stud H/L.

And those 5-Card events will each run in the progressive knockout (PKO) format and each will carry a $100K guarantee.

Some of the highlights of the series are as follows:

-Dec 3-5:  $630 buy-in NLHE Main Event (2 flights Dec 3-4) ($1M GTD)

-Dec 4-19:  $630 buy-in NLHE (42 flights Dec 4-18) ($2M GTD)

-Dec 4-19:  $215 buy-in NLHE (58 flights Dec 4-18) ($1M GTD)

-Dec 4-19:  $22 buy-in NLHE (58 flights Dec 4-18) ($250K GTD)

-Dec 11-19:  $215 buy-in NLHE Main Event (multiple flights Dec 11-18) ($1M GTD)

-Dec 11-19:  $2,650 buy-in NLHE Main Event (multiple flights Dec 11-18) ($2M GTD)

Check the WOSS page of ACR’s website for the complete schedule.

Of course, satellites are running around the clock for bargain-priced entries into these and other events.

Tournament Schedule Changes

As players navigate their way through the Winter Online Super Series in the coming weeks, they will find some changes to the regular tournament lineup. At the end of November, Americas Cardroom announced some big changes.

Let’s get the cancellations and pauses out of the way first:

-Cancelled:  $22 Double Deuce (too similar to Sunday Squeeze, didn’t gain traction)

-On hiatus:  Million Dollar Sundays (WOSS offers big guarantees in December, will reconfigure for 2023)

And now to the changes to current tournament offerings:

-Changed:  $50K Sunday Squeeze (buy-in increased from $10.50 to $16.50, new single reentry per flight)

-Changed:  $1K Sunday 2:05pm (format changed to PKO, guarantee increased from $200K to $250K)

-Changed:  Daily $215 $60K GTD (M/T/W/F/S editions to run as PKOs with only 4 hours late registration)

And there is something new that players will find in the Sunday lineup, at least through December:

-New:  $10.50 $30K GTD (to replace Sunday Squeeze price point, to run each Sunday in December)

There will likely be more changes. Keep an eye out for those to be announced in late December, as WOSS winds down, or in January when players are refreshed and ready to hit the tables with renewed vigor.
