This month’s Freerollers Open winner on Legal U.S. Poker Sites has been found! Coming into the final table hunting the biggest prize from $500 in total prize, ‘Nagisa’ won the pivotal heads-up battle to force ‘Lerinde56’ into second place and claim the title of LUSPS August champion. It was a thrilling month where 87 players qualified for the last day and just one player was left standing as the champion.

Going, Going, Gone
With just the final nine players getting paid, the race to reach the money places and the final table was on from the first card off the deck. By the time the final 10 players were reached, ‘letsgothere6’ was short stacked and they turned out to be the tournament bubble player, leaving with no reward for an excellent effort.
Once inside the money, two more players left, but this time with free money. The LUSPS Freerollers Open pays out $500 in its month-end finale every single month and it costs nothing to play! So both ‘Danladi’ and ‘Jakecrenesans’ made $10 each as they finished ninth and eighth respectively.
Out in seventh place for $20 was ‘Dominos3538k’, who held ace-nine of diamonds. They shoved pre-flop from first position and when ‘Lerinde56’ re-shoved three seats round, everyone else gave it up. ‘Dominos3538k’ had run into a monster, as ‘Lerinde56’ revealed pocket kings. The board of T-5-5-9-2 gave the at-risk player hope on the turn but no more help came on the river and the field was down to six players.
‘Wikipedia09’ went in sixth place for $25 soon after before the blinds grew to 3,000/6,000 chips. The next time a player busted, they were all-in pre-flop with less than a big blind. ‘Loki123’ had automatically committed their stack with king-eight of diamonds. ‘Lerindee56’ made the call with king-jack of clubs from middle position, but it was the small blind player ‘Pellzz’ who won the pot, taking out ‘Loki123’ for $35 when their jack-nine of hearts checked to the river on a scary-looking board of Q-9-3-3-A.
Fab Four Battle for Glory
With four players remaining, the race was truly on to become the latest monthly winner of the Freerollers Open. Soon, the podium places were set, as ‘Hunmiyum50’ was taken out in fourth place for $50. Nagisa’s shove from early position with queen-nine proved good enough against ‘Hunmiyum50’ with queen-four. A board of 8-6-2-3-J had enough low cards on it for Nagisa to hold with ease as ‘Hunmiyum50’ left outside the podium places.
Nagisa then called off ‘Pellzz’ who shoved with ace-seven of hearts. For just another big blind, it was worth the call with four-three for Nagisa and a board of T-4-K-5-T paid off with two-pair for the eventual winner. Going into the heads-up battle for the $180, Nagisa had a better than 2:1 chip lead, as ‘Pellzz’ cashed for $70 in third place.
The final hand was as dominant as Nagisa had been during the final table. ‘Lerinde56’ shoved pre-flop with king-deuce of spades and was called by Nagisa with king-queen. Needing a world of help from the board, a flop of A-9-3 did little improve Lerinde56’s chances, but a four on the turn did provide for outs, with the wheel straight out there too. Only seven cards would save the at-risk player, however, and none of them came on the jack river, meaning Nagisa won the $180 top prize while Lerinde56 had to make do with the $100 runner-up prize.
