BetOnline to Start Winter COPS January 22

Written by Jennifer Newell
Last updated on January 12th, 2023
BetOnline Winter COPS Every online poker site has a signature tournament series. For BetOnline and sister site Sportsbetting.ag (which share a player pool), it is the Championship Online Poker Series. Regulars on the sites call it COPS. And though it feels like it has been winter for a year, it’s only been a couple of months, and we are still in the winter season. That means, it’s almost time for Winter COPS. So, get a hot tea or cocoa, grab a big blanket, and curl up with a warm laptop for the Winter COPS, starting January 22. With more than $2.5M in guarantees on the line, there’s plenty to keep you warm.

Winter COPS Highlights

The Winter Championship Online Poker Series is ready to kick off on January 22 and run through February 6. There will be 153 events over the course of those two weeks, and the cumulative guarantees will surpass $2.5M. The buy-ins for the series start at just $11 and hike up to $215, though the vast majority of them are on the lower end. Most buy-ins are $109 or less. Players on BetOnline and Sportsbetting.ag love their No Limit Hold’em, so those events will comprise most of the offerings. But there will be some Omaha in the lineup as well. And formats will range from rebuys to deepstacks, progressive knockouts to turbos. There’s something for everyone. The kickoff day of January 22 will feature 11 tournaments, starting with two big ones:
-$22 buy-in NLHE Mini Main Event (Event 1) with $50K GTD -$109 buy-in NLHE Main Event (Event 2) with $200K GTD
The next Sunday, January 29, there will be two more highlighted events:
-$22 buy-in NLHE Mini Main Event (Event 70) with $50K GTD -$109 buy-in NLHE Main Event (Event 71) with $200K GTD
And finally, on Super Bowl Sunday (February 5), the final two highlights will help wrap things up:
-$22 buy-in NLHE Mini Main Event (Event 143) with $50K GTD -$109 buy-in NLHE Main Event (Event 144) with $300K GTD

Who Doesn’t Love a Freeroll?

Satellites for the series are already running, starting at just $1. But during the series, there will be freerolls. First, starting on the second day of the series, daily shootouts will award free tickets into Winter COPS events. To play a freeroll, you must play the day before and not finish in the money. You will automatically qualify to play in the following day’s freeroll, which will be an all-in shootout. Players will be all-in on every hand, so they don’t even have to show up to play, as the outcome will be a result of winning all-ins. Second, there will be a giant freeroll on February 6. The “SuperBowl Freeroll” will award sports betting freeplays to the top finishers.
