Normalnormal’ Takes Down the Freerollers Open Final in December for $75
Christmas came again for the 20 players who cashed in Legal U.S. Poker Sites Freerollers Open in December. At the end of a thrilling month-end tournament, ‘normalnormal’ won the top prize of $75 after they beat the appropriately named ‘BadLuck’ heads-up for the title.
A total of $250 was paid out to the top 20 players, with previous LUSPS Freerollers finale winners among that number. While there were 20 winners, that meant 62 hopefuls missed out on the free money on offer, with a total of 82 taking on the end of December finale. There was drama all the way from the money bubble to the final table.
There were two players who cashed in both November and December’s LUSPS Freerollers finale, and one went very deep. The other, ‘kkk’, came 19th in November for $2.50 but made it all the way to 13th position in December, cashing for $4.00. Perhaps the most fortunate player to win however, was ‘Kennyo’, who finished in 20th place for $2.50, the first player to reach the money.
Others such as ‘Palmer’ and ‘redwine8’ both min-cashed for $2.50 too, before the money started getting bigger. Once play reached the final eight players, everyone was guaranteed at least ten bucks for their troubles, and both ‘Pharoah’ and ‘Loser’ took home winnings. With five players left, ‘dayyet’ busted with ten-four for $12.50. Running into BadLuck’s ace-nine, no help came on the board and play moved four-handed.
Down to four players, ‘Torbap’ moved all-in with queen-ten of clubs, and was in good shape when ‘normalnormal’ called with ten-six. Dominating their opponent, Torbap nevertheless was in trouble from the flop, as the A-Q-6 spread came in diamonds. Normalnormal held the ten of that suit and a nine of diamonds came on the turn to eliminate Torbap for a cash worth $15.
In November’s LUSPS Freerollers Open finale, ‘cmt2’ finished fourth for $15, but one month later, they went one place further, cashing in third place for $25. Pocket fives in the hole were no good when flipping for their tournament life against normalnormal’s jack-ten, as a board of K-J-7-2-3 landed to pair up the eventual winner just when they needed it.
That pot gave normalnormal a massive 6:1 chip lead and soon after, they had all the chips at the table. ‘BadLuck’ shoved with ace-queen of spades and normalnormal was priced it to call with ten-six of clubs. A flop of K-7-5 with two clubs was a dangerous one and an offsuit nine on the turn added straight outs to normalnormal’s chances. A six on the river seemed the cruellest card of all that could land, pairing up the winner and meaning ‘normalnormal’ was the 2025 LUSPS Freerollers Open winner for $75 after playing the freeroll qualifiers only on the site!
