High Stakes Poker Season 9 to Premiere February 21

Written by Jennifer Newell
Last updated on February 15th, 2022
High Stakes Poker Season 9 It’s been a while since poker fans had a new season of High Stakes Poker. That pesky pandemic put a bit of distance between Season 8 and the latest season. Season 8 premiered in December 2020. It was great timing because many poker players and fans had yet to return to the live poker tables since the pandemic began. Season 8 and its new episodes were greatly welcomed. And then 2021 came and went without official news of another HSP season. The wait is over. Season 9 of High Stakes Poker will premiere on Monday, February 21, 2022.

Familiar Faces

Some of the new season of High Stakes Poker will be familiar to longtime fans. Gabe Kaplan and AJ Benza will be in the commentary booth once again, calling the action and punctuating it with their signature dry humor. PokerGO President Mori Eskandani is back in the driver’s seat with HSP. After having produced years of the show, he said that the new season may be the best to date. “In addition to star-studded lineups, fans will be pleased to see a revamped set that aims to capture the traditional authenticity of this legendary show and the return of $50,000 bricks of cash on the table.” Many of the players will be familiar to poker fans around the world as well. Perhaps they know Doyle Brunson or Daniel Negreanu. Maybe they’ve heard of Phil Ivey. And then there is Tom Dwan, Jean-Robert Bellande, and Patrik Antonius. One of the new faces will be 2021 WSOP Main Event champion Koray Aldemir. He decided to take some of his $8M in winnings and put it on the table for some high-stakes cash poker action.

Fourteen Weeks

New episodes of High Stakes Poker will run every Monday at 8pm ET on PokerGO. All episodes of the new season were filmed in the PokerGO Studio, complete with a new set for this HSP season. One of the sponsors for this season appears to be Poker King. That name may sound familiar, as it has been teaming up with the World Poker Tour in recent years for online poker action. As for HSP, Poker King put its logo right on the table felt. Promotors of and ambassadors for (and possibly investors in) Poker King include Ivey and Dwan, both of whom wear rather large Poker King patches while playing. Bellande happens to wear one as well. Speaking of the felt, there will be loads of money on it. The stakes will range from $200/400 to $500/1000, and players are allowed to play with bricks of cash. It will remind longtime HSP fans of the early days of the show. For those who want to watch High Stakes Poker – both new and old episodes – on PokerGO, they can sign up as a new subscriber. And by using HSP9 as the promo code when purchasing a year’s subscription to PokerGO, they can buy that subscription for a total that breaks down to less than $7 per month. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDFY_GZyOhM
