There is a lot happening in Las Vegas this summer. In fact, two live poker tournament series already started earlier in May. Most, however, don’t begin for a few more days.
A couple of the series have implemented minor changes in the past two weeks. There are also a few events and specials around Las Vegas that players should note.
It’s about to be a very busy summer, so let’s do a quick rundown of everything happening in the poker tournament scene.
It’s not that Ladies Week isn’t full of tournaments; it certainly is. The LIPS Ladies Poker Week schedule contains events at MGM Grand, Bally’s/Paris for the WSOP, South Point, and Venetian. In addition, there are events at Golden Nugget, Aria, and Wynn.
There may be one more. Resorts World Las Vegas tweeted that its poker room will host a women-only tournament at 1:05pm on Monday, June 27. This may be a product of Poker League of Nations (PLON) and its affiliation with this particular poker room.

With that said, if the tournament is announced, it will likely not be a part of the LIPS Ladies Poker Week. In addition, it will directly conflict with the MGM Grand Ladies Week Kickoff, which starts at 11am that same day.
Venetian Incorporates WPT
The Venetian DeepStack Championship already has 133 tournaments on its schedule. The schedule is pretty set in stone as originally published.
What is new is the introduction of the World Poker Tour into the mix. The WPT Venetian jumped into the middle of the series, creating a festival and Main Event.
The tournaments in the WPT Venetian Festival are the same as previously listed, but they are simply now a part of the festival and eligible for WPT points toward the Player of the Festival leaderboard. This is the part of the schedule that is now dedicated to the World Poker Tour:

PokerNews Cup Returns
The PokerNews Cup returns after a hiatus. The last one ran in 2019 in Bulgaria, and it will make its comeback as a part of the Grand Poker Series at the Golden Nugget this summer.
When the Nugget posted its summer tournament schedule on April 1, the 81-event series showed its Main Event as Event 55 to run June 24-28. That tournament is now the PokerNews Cup, a $1,100 buy-in affair with a $1M guarantee on the prize pool. The three starting flights off plenty of chances to play.
Speaking of chances to play, there will be a $200 mega satellite running on Thursday, June 23, which will guarantee at least 10 seats to the Main Event.

South Point Offerings
The South Point Casino did not devise a tournament series for the summer. There are so many options around town already and a shortage of dealers. Besides, the South Point has become known for their daily/nightly tournaments anyway.
This created an opportunity for the South Point’s poker room to offer a schedule of dailies that will run May 30 to July 20. It is the Summer Poker Round-Up.
-Mondays at 1pm: $240 buy-in NLHE (Day 1A) ($75K GTD)-Tuesdays at 1pm: (Day 1B)-Wednesdays at 1pm: (Day 1C)-Thursdays at noon: Day 2 restart-Thursdays at 1pm: $240 buy-in NLHE single-day ($30K GTD)-Fridays at 1pm: $240 buy-in Omaha-8/B single-day ($20K GTD)-Saturdays at 1pm: $240 buy-in Mixed Omaha-8/Stud-8 single-day ($20K GTD)-Sundays at 1pm: $240 buy-in ROSE mixed game single-day ($20K GTD)
There are also other dailies on the schedule that will play throughout the May-July aforementioned dates. Those will be:
-Every day at 10am: $60 buy-in NLHE ($5K GTD)-Every day at 10pm: $60 buy-in NLHE ($2,500 GTD)-Mondays-Thursdays at 6pm: $150 buy-in NLHE ($15K GTD)-Fridays-Sundays at 6pm: $150 buy-in NLHE ($25K GTD)
Robbie Strazynski is bringing his mixed game extravaganza back to Las Vegas for the second year in a row. His Cardplayer Lifestyle is hosting the second Mixed Game Festival at Resorts World Las Vegas.
This is not a tournament festival but rather a five-day mixed game festival. The focus will be low-stakes games with mixed games ats the central theme. Every day, players will be able to gather at the Resorts poker room for mixed games – or come and go at will. And PokerStars is sponsoring the event.
Over the course of June 12-16, the rake for the cash games in this festival will be reduced to $4 per hand. And the casino will only take the fourth of those four dollars if there is more than $80 in the pot. Action will play at $4/$8 and $8/16 for the most part. However, those want to play bigger can request games if there are enough players.
PokerStars is sponsoring the Mixed Game Festival II. That means a PokerStars Live event prize package will be awarded to a player, as will prizes from the likes of Faded Spade, RunGoodGear, Upswing Poker, and PokerGO.
