MGM Grand Vegas Poker Room Adds Summer Series

The summer is full, or so we thought. The 2022 summer in Las Vegas just got busier with the release of another poker tournament schedule.

Of course, it all started with the February release of the 2022 World Series of Poker schedule. Other casinos then began releasing their poker lineups. The list consisted of:

–World Series of Poker (WSOP)

–Wynn Summer Classic

–Venetian DeepStack Championship Poker Series

–Golden Nugget Grand Poker Series

–Aria Poker Classic

–Orleans Summer Open

And now, there is one more, this one from MGM Grand.

Grand Summer Series

It’s official. Per MGM Grand Senior Poker Manager Marty Zabib, we have the schedule for the Grand Summer Series. This is the final draft…probably. If not, it’s super close.

There are 173 tournaments in total. And altogether, the prize pool guarantees add up to more than $10.6M. (This schedule has fewer tournaments than the initial draft but more guarantees.)

The series consists of mostly low-to-middle buy-in events. The eye-catching part of the schedule was the vast number of non-Hold’em events. And those non-Hold’em events weren’t the standard like PLO and HORSE. The lineup showed everything from POSER to ROPE, from Big O to Super Stud. Every single event offered a guarantee as well.

And most days/nights, there is a nightly tournament and a midnight tournament. When players want one last – just one more – tournament in a night, the MGM Grand poker room will have it waiting for them.

We highlighted the Main Event in the middle of the schedule and several other of the larger events in the series.

Of course, there are highlights across the schedule for all kinds of players. But there are some off-the-schedule events that may be of interest as well.

First, on May 15, there is a “Rampage and Mariano meet-up game” at the MGM Grand at 1pm. It will be a $2/$5 affair with a $300 minimum and no cap.

Second, on May 24 at 7pm, Conrad Simpson’s meet-up game will be a $1/$2 game “match the stack.”

The very next night, on May 25, Marle Spragg and Melissa Schubert will host their own meet-up game, also a $1/$2 “match the stack.”

Next, on May 28, there will be an “Only Friends” Podcast Solve-4-Why meet-up game at 11pm. Presumably, members of that podcast like Matt Berkey, Christian Soto, Landon Tice, and Melissa Schubert. This will be a mix of dealer’s choice cash games.

Finally, on the final day – June 17 – there will be a Tournament of Champions with $173K guaranteed. Winners of all events in the series will be qualified to play the freeroll.
