LUSPS September Freerollers Open Winner Announced as ‘afisuuru’ Wins $180
September was a bumper month in the Legal U.S. Poker Sites Freerollers Open. At the end of the night, the winner was ‘afisuuru’, who bagged the top prize of $180 from a prize pool of $500 in free prize money. Heads-up, they defeated ‘creans’, who cashed for $100 after a thrilling month of qualifiers sent 87 players to the final showdown and found a new champion.
Just as in August, only the final nine players reached profit from the 87 qualifiers. August’s champion was ‘Nagisa’, who qualified for the Freerollers Open finale early in September, as did their fellow August final table player ‘Jakecrenesans’. Neither survived the opening levels of September’s finale, however, as the final 10 players were reached with just nine due to get paid.
September’s tournament ‘bubble player’, who left with no financial reward for their hard work, was ‘tamactijun’, who busted in tenth place, leaving the remaining nine in the money. Both ‘Hoodie’ and ‘Jomraja’ were early exits from that final table, leaving in ninth and eighth respectively, as they cashed for $10 - for no entry fee at any stage.
The free money kept coming as ‘sharp’ (7th for $20) and ‘F69’ (6th for $25) both banked cash, before ‘Devil’ ran into some nightmarish cards. All-in pre-flop with queen-jack, the at-risk player was ousted by ‘afisuuru’, whose ace-four of spades met with a four on the 9-9-4 flop, with paint-free cards coming on turn and river to reduce the field to four sending Devil home with $35.
With four players left in the hunt for the $180 top prize, which of the quartet of players would become the latest monthly winner of the Freerollers Open? It was soon ‘good game’ to ‘GGMRPAUL’, who busted in fourth place for a score of $50. All-in from the big blind for less than a big blind, their jack-ten were well behind ‘Azaman’ with pocket aces. A flop of Q-6-2 did nothing to change that, and another six on the turn meant the at-risk GGMRPAUL was drawing dead to the river of a jack, one pair not enough to crack Azaman’s aces, as they won the hand.
Three-handed, the cards didn’t fall for Azaman, who went from hero to zero... chips! All-in with the superior ace-queen of clubs to afisuuru’s queen-five of spades, a flop of 9-8-6 kept the at-risk Azaman well ahead, as did the queen on the turn. Only a five or a seven would knock out Azaman, but that was exactly what happened when an improbable seven landed on the river to complete the straight for afisuuru and send Azaman to the rail with $70 in third place.
Heads-up, afisuuru now had a better than 2:1 chip lead and with the average stack just seven big blinds, the action didn’t take long to produce our September Freerollers Open champion. Everyone had started with 800 chips and after 85 eliminations, it all came down to one massive flip. Down to just 18,700 chips, roughly a third of their opponent, ‘creans’ was all-in pre-flop with pocket sixes. A quick call came from afisuuru with king-jack and a flop of A-K-9 immediately put them two cards from the title. A three on the turn meant nothing and creans was drawing to just two outs, praying for a six to complete a set. The upside-down was as nightmarish as in Stranger Things for creans, a nine coming to send them out in the runner-up position with $100. The September champion was afisuuru, who won the $180 top prize in style!
After a thrilling finale where $500 of free money was handed out on Legal U.S. Poker Sites, attention now turns to qualification for the October Freerollers Open final. With another $500 on the line in four weeks’ time, will you make the cut?
Good luck at the Freerollers Open felt!
