BetOnline Winter COPS Begins January 21 with $3M GTD

Online poker players won more than $3M in prize money in the BetOnline’s Autumn Championship Online Poker Series (COPS) in 2023, and they’ve been waiting months for another chance at that kind of money.

Well, the wait is almost over, as the Winter COPS is ready to begin at BetOnline on January 21. Again, there will be more than $3M in guarantees, and there will be nearly 200 tournaments in this series, starting with buy-ins at just $11.

Winter COPS

This Winter Championship Online Poker Series – or Winter COPS, for short – comes at a time when online poker players are building up their bankrolls for the spring and summer poker seasons. Many players are still stuck at home, trying to stay warm as the cold winds and snow make the outdoors uncomfortable.

Winter COPS will give poker players a full series of 178 tournaments from January 21 to February 4. Those events combine to guarantee more than $3M in prize money across the 15-day series.

The best part of the series is that players can compete for as little as an $11 buy-in, with satellites starting at just $1. And satellites are already running to prepare competitors for the start of COPS.

Schedule Highlights

When the action gets underway on Sunday, January 21, the lineup for that day provides an example of the variety that will span the entire series.

  • Event 1 at 1pm ET:  $22 buy-in NLHE ($50K GTD)
  • Event 2 at 1:30pm ET:  $109 buy-in NLHE ($200K GTD)
  • Event 3 at 3:30pm ET:  $215 buy-in NLHE Deepstack ($50K GTD)
  • Event 4 at 4pm ET:  $55 buy-in NLHE Deepstack ($30K GTD)
  • Event 5 at 5pm ET:  $11 buy-in NLHE Deepstack ($10K GTD)
  • Event 6 at 7pm ET:  $33 buy-in NLHE PKO ($15K GTD)
  • Event 7 at 7pm ET:  $11 buy-in NLHE PKO ($5K GTD)
  • Event 8 at 7pm ET:  $109 buy-in NLHE Sunday Showdown ($100K GTD)
  • Event 9 at 9:40pm ET:  $22 buy-in NLHE PKO Turbo ($4K GTD)
  • Event 10 at 9:40pm ET:  $109 buy-in NLHE PKO Turbo ($10K GTD)

There is also a multi-day tournament beginning on January 21 that runs through Day 2 on January 28. There are 12 initial flights in the Omaha tournament, labeled as Event COPS 90, and the flights vary the Omaha versions. It is a $55 buy-in event with $20K GTD, and the Day 1 flight options include: PLO and PLO Hi/Lo, 5-Card and 6-Card NLO, Limit Omaha and NL Omaha Hi/Lo, and 5-Card and 6-Card PLO Hi/Lo. Day 2 will play as simple Omaha.

The second multi-day Omaha tournament is Event 176, which begins with an initial flight on January 29. That one will be straight Omaha with a $55 buy-in and $20K guarantee, and players will find eight flights before Day 2 on February 4.

Finally, the series will culminate in the Main Event on Sunday, February 4:

  • Event 170 at 1:30pm ET:  $109 buy-in NLHE Main Event ($300K GTD)

Win Seats in Satellites and Shootouts

Of course, the satellites abound for COPS seats. As mentioned, those start for as little as $1. But there is another way for the grinders of the series to win.

Play any COPS event and bust before the money bubble and don’t cash in any other COPS tournament that day, and BetOnline will award that player a sat into a freeroll. Every day, those players will compete in a No Limit Hold’em Shootout tournament on the day following their non-cashing day. And since the daily shootouts will play as instant all-in tournaments, players don’t even need to log in to participate. Those who finish in the top portion of the shootouts will win seats to COPS events and satellites.

The full schedule for BetOnline’s Winter COPS is on the website.
