Black Diamond Poker Open Underway

Written by Jennifer Newell
Last updated on March 6th, 2024

The 13th Annual Black Diamond Poker Open is underway on Ignition Poker and Bovada Poker. The action started on February 20, but it continues on through March 27. With the entire online poker tournament series offering more than 150 events and $150M guaranteed, there’s no time like the present to get involved.

Of course, the all-important BDPO Main Event and its various iterations are set for March 24, so that opportunity remains on the table.

Black Diamond Poker Open Details

The 2024 edition of the Black Diamond Poker Open – the 13th iteration of the series – started its initial Tune-Up tournaments on Tuesday, February 20. The official BDPO events then started one week later, on February 27, and will run for exactly one month.

With more than 150 events on the schedule, it was the decision of Bovada and Ignition to put $10M in guarantees across the series.

The reason that Ignition and Bovada can offer the same series is that they both operate on the same online poker network. That means that players on both sites join together to play at the virtual poker tables. It gives players better value and the sites the chance to raise guarantees and offer more satellites.

Speaking of satellites, they start as low as just $1. With series buy-ins ranging from $7.70 to $1,055, most players will take shots at qualifiers to earn their entries at a discount. Click on any event to see the qualifiers for it, or scroll the tournament lobby for BDPO satellites.

BDPO Highlights

More than half of the series remains open for participation, and there are many events to consider. The primary feature of the series, though, will be the group of Main Event tournaments. They all take place on Sunday, March 24, as follows:

  • Event 133 at 9:13am ET:  $82 buy-in Early Bird Main Event ($10K GTD)
  • Event 134 at 2:13pm ET:  $109 buy-in Mini Main Event ($113K GTD)
  • Event 135 at 3:13pm ET:  $450 buy-in Main Event ($300K GTD)
  • Event 136 at 5:13pm ET:  $27.50 buy-in Micro Main Event ($25K GTD)

There are numerous guarantees of note on the remaining schedule, such as:

  • Event 70 at 1:13pm ET on March 10:  $270 buy-in NLHE Monster Stack ($113K GTD)
  • Special at 3:13pm ET on March 10:  $162 buy-in NLHE ($213K GTD)
  • Special at 5:13pm ET on March 10:  $325 buy-in NLHE High Roller ($113K GTD)
  • Event 81 at 7:13pm ET on March 12:  $1,055 buy-in NLHE High Roller ($113K GTD)
  • Special at 3:13pm ET on March 17:  $162 buy-in NLHE ($213K GTD)
  • Special at 5:13pm ET on March 17:  $325 buy-in NLHE High Roller ($113K GTD)
  • Event 112 at 6:13pm ET on March 19:  $450 buy-in NLHE Marquee ($113K GTD)
  • Event 113 at 7:13pm ET on March 19:  $1,055 buy-in NLHE Lucky 13 ($173K GTD)
  • Special at 3:13pm ET on March 24:  $162 buy-in NLHE ($213K GTD)
  • Special at 5:13pm ET on March 24:  $325 buy-in NLHE High Roller ($113K GTD)
  • Event 145 at 6:13pm ET on March 26:  $1,055 buy-in NLHE High Roller ($113K GTD)

The special events listed above don’t have tournament numbers because they’re special additions to the schedule and not official BDPO13 events.

Again, there are satellites for every event. For the Main Event in particular, there will be many qualifiers, especially during the week leading up to the tournament.
