Americas Cardroom Announces Largest OSS XL Ever

Written by Jennifer Newell

WPN ACR Online Super Series OSS Americas Cardroom and its sister sites on the Winning Poker Network have flagship events. Its flagship solo tournament is the Venom, which is underway now in its PKO format. The network’s flagship tournament series is the Online Super Series, better known as OSS. In the past, WPN has offered different versions of OSS. There has been MOSS (mini version), BOSS (bigger version with higher stakes), and OSS XL as a version of its basic series with more tournaments and guarantees. That OSS XL is the latest on offer. Americas Cardroom has announced the latest XL version. It will run May 7-29, coincidentally (or not) covering the month prior to the summer of poker in Las Vegas. The WSOP begins on May 30, and numerous other live tournaments (and online bracelet events) will capture poker players’ attention. Prior to that summer kickoff, players can compete for their share of $40M in guaranteed prize pools on the Winning Poker Network sites.

OSS XL Overview

This iteration of the Online Super Series will be the largest ever, and that doesn’t even count the number of tournament guarantees that will be surpassed. This series will offer more than 275 tournaments in total over the course of three weeks in May. Altogether, the guarantees top $40M. Eight of the events will offer more than $1M each in guarantees, and the ultimate OSS Main Event will offer a $3M guarantee. Buy-ins start as low as $2.25, and the vast majority of the series offers buy-ins of $100 or less. There are a solid number of higher buy-ins, but those will have satellites running to offer discount tickets, too. All in all, there will be a mix of Hold’em and Omaha, with structures ranging from progressive knockouts to deepstacks and turbos.

May OSS Highlights

Depending on your poker bankroll and time available to play satellites, OSS can be as big of a deal as you choose. However, there are a number of can’t-miss tournaments that players will certainly try to qualify for…unless they buy in directly. Those highlights are:
-May 7 (Event 6):  $630 buy-in NLHE ($1M GTD) -May 7-29 (Event 278L):  $22 buy-in NLHE (108 flights, $200K GTD) -May 7-29 (Event 278M):  $215 buy-in NLHE (108 flights, $1.5M GTD) -May 7-29 (Event 278H):  $630 buy-in NLHE (72 flights, $2M GTD) -May 13-15 (Event 73M):  $109 buy-in NLHE Main (2 flights, $400K GTD) -May 13-15 (Event 73H):  $630 buy-in NLHE Main (2 flights, $1M GTD) -May 18-21 (Event 135):  $2,650 buy-in NLHE ($500K GTD) -May 20-22 (Event 155):  $2,650 buy-in NLHE (2 flights, $1.5M GTD) -May 21 (Event 171H):  $630 buy-in NLHE Sunday High Roller ($1M GTD) -May 28 (Event 261):  $2,500 buy-in PLO PKO 6-Max ($300K GTD)
There are three tournaments designated as overall Main Events. They will each hold a Day 1 on Sunday, May 28, Day 2 on May 29, and Day 3 for the final tables on Tuesday, May 30.
-Event 258L:  $109 buy-in NLHE Main Event ($600K GTD) -Event 258M:  $1,050 buy-in NLHE Main Event ($1.5M GTD) -Event 258H:  $5,200 buy-in NLHE Main Event ($3M GTD)
