ACR Poker Supersized Tourney Week Leads to OSS XL

Written by Jennifer Newell
Last updated on August 26th, 2024

The Winning Poker Network is riding a bit of a high these days. ACR Poker just hosted two very successful new versions of its signature Venom tournament, and there’s so much on tap that you might need a spreadsheet to track it all.

As for those Venom tournaments, there were two new ones that ran in August. Both offered the traditional $2,650 buy-in and several starting flights over the course of several weeks, and ACR ran many satellites to give players opportunities to qualify on the cheap. In the end, the numbers were good, as both events surpassed their prize pool guarantees.

  • Venom PLO ($2M GTD)
    • Total entries:  914
    • Total prize pool:  $2,332,500
    • Winner:  omahafyrarolls ($471,378)
  • Venom Mystery Bounty ($8M GTD)
    • Total entries:  3,234
    • Total prize pool:  $8,085,000
    • Winner:  chickenpastry ($572,333 + $45K in bounties)

With those events in the books, it was time for ACR and its WPN sister sites to move on to the next promotions.

Supersized Tourney Week

After competing in the Venom, poker players on ACR Poker were ready for more tournaments. That prompted the poker operator to offer something called the Supersized Tourney Week.

From August 25 through September 3, there are 20 regular tournaments supersized to bump the cumulative guarantee to $5M. (Actually, of the 20 events, there were 18 that were supersized and two new ones added.)

The schedule for this week is impressive and listed as follows, complete with the new tournaments highlighted below:

  • Sun, Aug 25:  $630 Sunday NLHE High Roller ($750K GTD)
  • Aug 25-26:  $1,050 Sunday Banana 2-Day NLHE ($500K GTD)
  • Sun, Aug 25:  $215 NLHE ($250K GTD)
  • Mon, Aug 26:  $630 NLHE ($250K GTD)
  • Mon, Aug 26:  $215 NLHE ($150K GTD)
  • Mon, Aug 26:  $109 NLHE ($100K GTD)
  • Mon, Aug 26:  $1,050 NLHE PKO ($100K GTD)
  • Tues, Aug 27:  $1,050 (NEW) NLHE Turbo ($100K GTD)
  • Tues, Aug 27:  $215 NLHE PKO Turbo ($50K GTD)
  • Sun, Sept 1:  $630 Sunday NLHE High Roller ($750K GTD)
  • Sun, Sept 1:  $215 NLHE PKO ($300K GTD)
  • Sun, Sept 1:  $66 NLHE PKO ($150K GTD)
  • Sun, Sept 1:  $109 Sunday Moneymaker NLHE ($400K GTD)
  • Mon, Sept 2:  $630 NLHE Lunch High Roller ($250K GTD)
  • Mon, Sept 2:  $215 NLHE ($150K GTD)
  • Mon, Sept 2:  $109 NLHE ($100K GTD)
  • Mon, Sept 2:  $1,050 NLHE PKO ($100K GTD)
  • Tues, Sept 3:  $630 NLHE Lunch High Roller ($200K GTD)
  • Tues, Sept 3:  $215 NLHE PKO ($100K GTD)
  • Tues, Sept 3:  $2,650 (NEW) NLHE ($400K GTD)

Note that there is a lower buy-in event priced at $66, and other tournaments offer satellites for cheaper entries.

Online Super Series XL

Days after the week of supersized tournaments ends, ACR Poker will kick off its latest edition of the Online Super Series XL, better known as OSS XL. It is set to run September 8-30 with more than $40M in prize pool guarantees.

The XL (extra-large) version of the OSS puts everything together in one massive schedule. This includes MOSS (micro buy-in) events, BOSS (bigger buy-in) events, and everything in-between. The OSS XL offers something for every player at every buy-in level, not to mention satellites for nearly everything at just pennies on the dollar.

The full schedule has yet to be released, but there are highlights already announced:

  • Sept 1-Oct 1:  $630 buy-in Multiflight NLHE ($2M GTD)
  • Sept 1-30:  $55 buy-in Multiflight NLHE ($750K GTD)
  • Sept 1-30:  $109 buy-in Multiflight NLHE Mystery Bounty ($1M GTD)
  • Sept 1-29:  $2.60 buy-in Multiflight NLHE ($100K GTD)
  • Sept 1-29:  $16.50 buy-in Multiflight NLHE ($200K GTD)
  • Sept 22:  $2,650 buy-in PLO Main Event ($500K GTD)
  • Sept 22-Oct 1:  $215 buy-in 2-flight NLHE Main Event ($1M GTD)
  • Sept 22-Oct 1:  $1,050 buy-in 2-flight NLHE Main Event ($2M GTD)
  • Sept 22-Oct 1:  $2,650 buy-in 2-flight NLHE Main Event ($2M GTD)

OSS XL Leaderboard Contest

A big part of the Online Super Series is always the leaderboard competition. This one runs the length of the OSS XL and includes more than $60K in cash and prizes that comes direction from WPN, not from any of the buy-ins or prize pools.

The three leaderboards will give every player a chance to compete, as each buy-in falls into a different category.

  • Leaderboard #1 (High buy-ins $104.50 and up) pays top 10 with $10K for winner
  • Leaderboard #2 (Medium buy-ins $16.50 to $88) pays top 10 with $5K for winner
  • Leaderboard #3 (Low buy-ins $0.10 to $15) pays top 8 with $2,500 for winner

Players earn points based on the prize pool and in-the-money finishing place of each event.

Sunday Moneymaker

One of the latest additions to the regular weekly lineup of tournaments is the Sunday Moneymaker, named after ACR Poker’s top ambassador, Chris Moneymaker. It started on July 28 and runs every Sunday. The $109 buy-in tournament is a new iteration of the Sunday Warmup, complete with a new prize pool that guarantees at least $300K every week. And on the last Sunday of every month, the guarantee increases to $500K.

The qualifiers for the normal $300K GTD Sunday Moneymaker start with freerolls and micro-hyper satellites priced at $1.05. There is also an $11 mega satellite every Sunday morning with 40 seats guaranteed. For the special monthly $500K GTD Moneymaker, freerolls and micro-hyper satellites lead up to two megas on Sunday mornings, an $11 one with 50 seats guaranteed and a $22 mega with 75 seats guaranteed.
